Upcoming Program - Darfur, Sudan - What's Going On?

Darfur, Sudan ~ What's Going On?
From Darfuri Families' Viewpoints

November 13, Monday, 2006 at 7:00 p.m.
Middletown Public Library
700 West Main Road

With 400,000 dead and 2.5 million* forced from their homes in Darfur, Sudan,
it is easy to allow these overwhelming numbers just to be numbers. This
means this story never finds its way into our hearts. Add that it is far
away on the under-reported continent of Africa and the story barely gets the
attention that such a huge story deserves. This evening will bridge this
gap, as well as give simple things that you can do to make a difference.

Toastmasters Humor Contest

"The Laughs Are On Us!”

Island Foghorns Toastmasters Hosts Humorous Speech Contest

Island Foghorns will be hosting a Humorous Speech Contest for four RI Toastmasters clubs on Monday, 2 Oct at 7 PM at the Middletown Public Library.

Speech contests are part of Toastmasters International educational public speaking program. Humor is a well know power tool for business presentations and social activities. Speech contests are a fun way for members to get some "stage time" and show their funny side. Humor is good for you. When we laugh we relax. When we relax we learn.

Only club members can compete but the public is invited to attend and enjoy a free evening of laughter and good clean humor. Competitors will be from four Rhode Island clubs: Raytheon IDS in Portsmouth, Am-Gen in West Greenwich, Ocean State Toastmasters in Warwick, and Island Foghorns in Middletown.

Seating is limited so RSVP early. Email:VPPR06@gmail.com or Tel:401-841-4196. The contest will start promptly at 7 PM. To avoid interruptions during the speeches, late comers can not be seated once the contest begins. For further information about Toastmasters visit www.toastmasters.org
