Access to World Book Online

The library is now offering free access to World Book Online. You can access World Book Online from our website's search page - http://middletownpubliclibrary.org/srch.htm If accessing from home, you will need to enter your library card barcode (that really long number on the back of your card) - if accessing from one of the internet computers in the library, you do not need o enter a card number.

In addition to World Book Online, we offer remote (from a home internet-connected computer with your library card number) to Gale Research and the Providence Journal. All resources can be reached via the library website search page.

TEEN SPOT - The Library's NEW Teen Blog

The library has put togther a new blog just for teens - TEEN SPOT!

You will now be able to find the New YA Titles lists at Teen Spot, as well as interesting YA book news, homework tips, teen program/event listings, book lists, the Summer Reading Lists, and more. Teen Spot's "second page," Teen Spot Reviews, will feature book reviews by area teenagers as well as professionals.

Children's Program - DR. SEUSS!!

Storytellers-in-Concert Cindy Killavey, Christopher Carbone, and Nancy Abbott will be reading and acting out favorite Dr. Seuss stories as part of this year's Read Across America celebration.

When: Thursday. March 2, at 4 pm.
Who: Children in grades K - 4

February Children's Programs

DINOSAURS!

Learn about fossils and dinosaurs with POW! Scientist Eric Bulmer.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS!
ENTER OUR ART CONTEST!

Two lucky winners will get their artwork printed on notecards to be used by the Friends of Middletown Public Library.

Winning pictures will be displayed at the Newport Chamber of Commerce Expo 2006 in March.

First and second place winners will also receive gift certificates for new books.

To enter, draw a picture of the library, or children reading books. All entries must be done free-hand on 8.5 X 11 inch paper (standard size). There are two age categories: 5-7 years old, and 8-10 years old, with a first and second place winner in each category. Please write the child's full name, age, and phone number on the back of the picture.

ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE LIBRARY BY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17!
